Solve the problem of selecting the optimal technology for industrial automation. The properties and the possibility of SCADA-system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition-Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), particularly as a process control SCADA. The strengths and weaknesses in the process automation PLC PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and distributed control system DCS (Distributed Control System). The recommendations to select the most appropriate automation system. It is proved that the application of the requirements and needs of the operational objectives and operational staff is essential to determine the appropriate automation technologies. To control the energy infrastructure (motors, drives, power cabinets) have traditionally used PLC. For process control companies generally used DCS. The paper shows new perspectives on hybrid applications by erasing the line between PLC and DCS. The primary role played by the requirements of a particular production, deep domain knowledge and proven technical solutions to address both current and future challenges of production.
