Industrial Automatic Control Systems and Controllers Annotation << Back Reliability Function Design for an Automated Machine Tool System Kapitanov A.V. The paper examines the operation reliability of an automated machine tool system (AMTS). Almost all AMTS are independent from the reliability viewpoint, i.e., the reliability of each one does not affect the reliability of any other subsystem or element although affect the overall system reliability. Therefore, the investigation of the overall AMTS reliability may be reduced to estimating of each subsystem’s reliability, allowing for subsystem interrelations and calculating the resulting reliability indices. It should be noted that AMTS is a production system that implies production output in time and according to the operations plan. Equipment failures result in operation schedule disruptions; hence, the extra target implementation time as against the planned one should be considered as an AMTS failure criterion. Fault-free AMTS operation is a complex event presuming simultaneous availability of the constituent operational, transportation, warehousing, information-management and other utility subsystems. To develop the most effective reliability improvement strategy for such a complex plant, the variety of possible of manufactured products should be accounted; thus the losses caused by equipment failure will be summarized by the product slate.
