A Mathematical Model for Assessing the Effectiveness of Mechanisms for Protecting Information from Virus Attacks |

The article presents a mathematical model for assessing the effectiveness of mechanisms for protecting information from virus attacks.
The content and scenario representations of the infringer of information security in a computer system (CS) are considered in conditions
when malicious programs are used as an infringing tool. A scenario presentation of the mechanisms of antivirus protection is given. The
mathematical presentation of the temporal characteristics of virus attacks and information protection processes against the effects of
malicious programs is substantiated. The results of mathematical modeling of virus attacks and anti-virus protection mechanisms are
presented to assess the effectiveness of such mechanisms at typical values of the time characteristics of the simulated processes. The
indicator of the effectiveness of mechanisms for protecting information from virus attacks as a mathematical function is investigated.
