Criteria for Assessing the Quality of Information-measuring and Control Television Systems

This article shows the features of information-measuring and control television systems and the choice of their parameters, which would most fully take into account the characteristics of the observed objects and consumers of video information in the path of formation, processing and transmission of image signals from the «message source» to the «information recipient». The main types of information-measuring and control systems of television are presented and their detailing is carried out. The nature of the application and the type of generated video information in such systems for the solution of information, measuring or control tasks are highlighted. A generalized block diagram of information-measuring and control systems of television is presented and the main parameters for assessing the quality of information-measuring and control systems of television are considered. Criteria for assessing the quality of video information systems for image analysis are proposed, including generalized indicators that reflect the degree of consistency of the i-type of video information systems with objects of observation in terms of spectral-energy and spatial characteristics, then the degree of achievement of the required parameters for converting the radiant flux into image signals and their processing, as well as the degree of consistency of the generated video information with its consumers. Possible types of video information systems are considered from the point of view of the used spectral regions (zones) of radiant flux registration. Dependences of the image contrast value, signal-to-noise ratio and their product on the width of the radiant flux registration zone are shown, as well as the influence of the analog-to-digital signal conversion parameters on the potential distinguishability of image signals of various combinations of objects when using several radiant flux registration zones. The number of additionally allocated objects from {N}, due to the attraction of each new zone of registration of a radiant flux, is presented in the form of a sequence of numbers of a variation series that satisfies a decreasing law. An expression is obtained for assessing the possible number of distinguishable combinations of objects based on spectral-energy characteristics based on taking into account the joint distribution of the amplitude of their signals in m-channels of i-type of video information systems, which can be used to solve problems of spectral selection of objects.
