Rusinov The processes of ceramic tiles production are quite well automated, but the control of surface defects of tiles, as a rule, is still done manually, visually. Such defects, in particular, include chips at the corners and edges of the tile, which most often occur at the stage of raw (biscuit) tiles and during the transportation of tiles between technological operations. The article discusses the method and algorithm for automatic detection of such defects by processing the image of a single-color tile. The peculiarity of the method is the absence of the requirement of a reference tile, as well as the ability to control tiles on the conveyor in real time.
