Features of the Application of the Acoustic Method
for Monitoring the Technical Condition of Bearings
in the Operation of Steam Turbines of Power Plants |

Bearings of power steam turbine units fi x the position of the rotor in the radial and axial directions and must withstand
high loads, operate at high speeds, which affects the reliability of the installation and the power plant as a whole. Therefore,
the problems of monitoring the condition of sliding bearings considered in this article are extremely important. However,
practice shows that the diagnosis of even minor changes in the condition of bearings caused by wear, lubrication problems or
thermal effects is still unsatisfactory. This paper presents the results of studies that show that the analysis of acoustic emission
makes it possible to diagnose changes in the operation of sliding bearings with high accuracy. The research was carried out
in order to improve diagnostic methods for monitoring steam turbines of thermal power plants.
