Optimizing Malware Detection in IoT Networks:
Using Resource-Aware Distributed
Computing to Improve Security |
Yarmonov A.S., Gorelikov R.S., Yavtukhovsky E.Yu.,

In recent years, IoT network systems have revolutionized connectivity, portability, and functionality, offering many
benefi ts. However, these systems are increasingly being targeted by attackers due to their inherent security vulnerabilities
and limited computing and storage resources. Malicious applications, commonly known as malware, pose a signifi cant threat
to IoT devices and networks. Although many malware detection methods have been proposed, existing approaches often
overlook the resource limitations inherent in IoT environments by assuming suffi cient resources for detection tasks. The
material proposed in the work solves this problem at least partially. Experimental analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of
our proposed method, providing a signifi cant speedup of 9.8 times compared to on-device output while maintaining a high
malware detection accuracy of 96.7 %.
