The article provides an overview of smart cameras, used to collect information on the transportation system status in the area of ​​regulation of traffic flows within the boundaries of large cities. The results of the experiments with the National Instruments NI-1742 smart camera are provided: the sensivity of cameras sensor and the performance of the processor were evaluated.
