A present day higher school comprises a lot of business processes, such as the organization of education and R&D, commercialization of intelligent products, monitoring of service quality, etc., that entails extensive paper and electronic documentation. In this context, the need in developing and operating state-of-the-art electronic document workflow control systems looks quite relevant. The paper discusses the development of an integrated workflow control system structure allowing for the specificity of a scientific and educational organization (university). It offers a modified computer network model ensuring the desirable reliability level of data storage and user access management. Electronic workflow system structure for R&D is presented with the example of a card file of chemical products and personal protective equipment. The development of versatile design solutions for electronic document workflow systems for universities addresses the current needs of the computerized information system market.
