Sokolov Currently, the issue of determining surface defects of rolled metal is studied by all manufacturers of metal products, since only documentary confi rmation of the high quality of production increases its competitiveness. That is why in recent years, modern methods and diagnostic systems, both internal and surface structure of the metal-roll. Theoretical and practical development in the direction of the study of the fractal properties of the surface and internal structures of various metals and their alloys, methods of calculating fractal dimension as an indicator of structural features of the surface of the metal, as well as calculations based quantitative microstructure of high-strength alloys by heat treatment parameters allow to speak about the possibility of using this approach in the problem of diagnosing the surface of rolled metal structure.
