Comparative Analysis of Tool Environments for Developing Expert Systems in Different Subject Domains |

The paper presents a review of tool environments for developing expert systems (ES). The most popular expert system designers, such as Clips, Visual Prolog, Exsys Corvid and KESMI (Wi!Mi) have been analysed. The considered products have a common characteristic feature, that is, production knowledge model. The results of the analysis are represented in the form of a comparative table. The major advantages and disadvantages of ES designers have been considered. On the basis of the analysis carried out, guidelines on the choice of environment for developing an expert system allowing us to design models in different subject domains have been provided. The paper is of particular interest fi rst of all for expert system designers and developers who are seeking to develop an effi cient ES taking into account all the details in the assigned subject domain.
