Robust Adjustment of PI Controller for Sponge Titanium Vacuum Separation Process |
Yu.P. Kirin, N.V. Bilfeld, V.A. Tikhonov
Robust approaches to controlling the process of vacuum separation of titanium sponge in systems with on-off and PI-regulators, ensuring the intensification of the process due to an increase in temperature, are considered. The control objects are the heating zones of industrial vacuum separation apparatus of titanium sponge, represented by objects with interval parameters, whose temperature setpoints are supported by on-off regulators. The description of objects in the form of an interval dynamic model is obtained. Using the model, the worst combinations of dynamic parameters of control objects are determined from a known interval in which the largest control error occurs in the on-off system - the maximum possible positive deviation of the temperature of the control objects from the set value, which characterizes the temperature exceeding the set value. The synthesis of robust control consists in finding such a given value of a two-position controller, which would guarantee the maintenance of the maximum allowable temperature for any changes in the dynamic parameters of objects from a known interval. It was found that, due to a significant positive temperature deviation, the guaranteed setpoint was assigned to the on-off controller well below the maximum allowable temperature of the vacuum separation process. It was proposed to minimize the positive temperature deviation by using a standard linear PI regulator with robust settings instead of a two-position controller. Simple analytical relations have been obtained that connect the robust settings of the PI – vacuum separation temperature controller and the dynamic parameters of the control object in the worst mode of operation. Simulation modeling of transient processes in a system containing a PI controller with robust settings and this control object has been carried out. It is established that in the control system there are provided aperiodic transients with a zero positive deviation of temperature from a given value. As a result, the guaranteed setpoint value of the PI controller has been increased to the maximum allowable value of the vacuum separation temperature. The industrial introduction of the PI controller allowed to intensify the process of vacuum separation and to improve its technological performance by maintaining the maximum allowable process temperature. The proposed approach can be applied to calculate the robust settings of linear regulators in interval systems containing control objects of the first and second orders.
