ITSKOVICH The paper defines the MES class and overviews the state of the art in their standardization. MES for chemical processes are pointed out and the results of their implementation at Russian enterprises are discussed. Typical components of such systems are considered and their typical content is described. A framework of MES design methodology for chemical industries is presented.
