A Survey of Object Detection, Tracking
and Classifi cation Methods in Limited Space |

This paper provides a comparative analysis of various methods for detecting, tracking, and classifying objects. The use
of such methods is necessary when designing security systems of various scales, unifi ed lighting control systems and other
devices in apartments and houses. The paper considers two classes of methods traditionally used in the described systems –
video cameras and motion sensors, as well as a relatively new class of methods – Wi-Fi signal. For each of the methods, the
positive and negative qualities are given, the advantages and disadvantages of implementation in specifi c systems are listed.
