The analysis of the role of information systems and technologies in research activities is given. The key aspects of the application of information technologies aimed at improving the effi ciency of automation of information processes are considered, which is a necessary condition for reducing the time required for the development of research and ensuring the accuracy and quality of the results obtained. Not only the role of information technology implementation is presented, but also the main methods and tools for ensuring data security in biomedical information systems. The article provides examples of the development and implementation of information systems in the activities of scientifi c and medical organizations. The importance of integrating information systems and technologies into the activities of research teams is emphasized.
