The article discusses the basic capabilities of the Ubuntu Server operating system to ensure security. The advantages and disadvantages of the Ubuntu Server operating system are analyzed in comparison with other operating systems. Examples of practical application of this operating system are considered. Key security measures are considered: regular updates, kernel and system protection, user and access management, network security, data encryption, container security, monitoring and auditing, attack protection, cloud security and compliance with standards. Recommendations are given for confi guring the security of the Ubuntu Server operating system, taking into account the existing shortcomings.
