On the Impact of Transient Processes in Long
Computer Lines on Their Security Against
Confidential Information Leakage |
Kravchenko V.B., Beletskiy S.A., Shukenbaev A.B.
This article examines the impact of technological changes on the design of computer platforms and their effectiveness
in terms of energy and information security. It is shown that any connection between logic elements should be considered a
long line if the signal propagation time along this connection exceeds 0.1 of the clock duration. At clock frequencies of tens of
megahertz, the spatial length of a clock was several meters. At a clock frequency of 500 MHz, the spatial length of the path is
approximately 40 cm. It is necessary to either limit the conductor connection length to a few centimeters or ensure matched
line operation. The aggravation of the situation with the use of matched long lines has complicated the task of suppressing
PEMI. In fact, in computer technology built on a modern component base, with the current interface structure, practically
only PEMI associated with signals transmitted along matched long lines are detectable, including through modulation of the
radiation of other elements. Several possible approaches to combating these phenomena are considered.
