Industrial Automatic Control Systems and Controllers Annotation << Back The New Generation of Labor – Technology Designed to Reduce the Qualification Defi cit in the Mining Industry A.V. Efremov There are many articles and studies on the problems that the mining industry currently faces, such as access to capital, reduced ore quality, toughening requirements, geopolitical changes and fl uctuations in commodity prices, which makes it diffi cult to maintain competitiveness and make a profi t. And, despite the fact that the mining industry now has favorable prospects, there is another critical issue that cannot be solved only by economic means: personnel shortages, recruitment of personnel, and the ever-increasing shortage of qualified employees. Partly due to the demanding, complex nature of the industry (and production in general), recruiting and retaining young professionals has become an extremely difficult task. In addition, the new generation of workers has other goals, values and desires related to the working environment, compared with their predecessors, which poses the task of fi nding new ways to attract and retain employees. This article presents an overview of these challenges and the consideration of new technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, remote control centers and modern mobile tools that will not only attract the new generation, offering it attractive tools and type of work experience, but also take control of the new level of efficiency through the introduction of digital technology and collaboration.
